DEMOCRACY DAY… HOW FARE THEE NIGERIA?

DEMOCRACY DAY… HOW FARE THEE NIGERIA?

Barr. Mary Oyibocha-Agbajoh writes from Warri, Delta State

May 29, 2014, Nigeria as a Country and Nigerians as a People will have another cause to celebrate its Democracy Day owing to a proclamation by the Federal Government to observe the day as a way of appreciating the country’s democratic struggles and liberation.
While basking in the euphoria of the celebration, it is of utmost and significant importance to take a pause, reflect and review how the country’s journey to Democracy started. After so many contending days, months and years against unpopular military rule and dictatorship, Nigeria was able to transit from military to democratic governance.
Interestingly, the country got on a ‘roller coaster’ of its democratic journey courtesy of Africa’s biggest political party: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was in control of both the party leadership and wheel of governance for eight years before handing over to late President Umar Musa Yar’adua who, though briefly, also steered the leadership of both the party and the country.
Presently, the country’s ship of governance and PDP leadership is being navigated by the leadership of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. A man often referred to as ‘a MAN of Destiny’ owing to his divine, rapid and inspiring Political mobility to occupy the highest position in the Country. President Jonathan was a deputy governor of Bayelsa State before being elevated to the position of the state. Fate further entrusted him with responsibilities as a vice president which later metamorphosed into him becoming the President of the federal republic of Nigeria and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party.

It is highly commendable to note that even in the face of numerous challenges evolving out of the leadership and administrative responsibilities entrusted on him, President Goodluck Jonathan have also fared exceedingly well. Significantly, and of utmost mentioning is also the fact that Nigeria under the able leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan has been able to weather the turbulent storm, contend with socio-economic and political challenges to evolve as not only one of the most viable country but also as Africa’s Biggest Economy.

DESPITE the numerous challenges confronting the leadership of the Country, it is also a glaring fact that these issues are perhaps a ‘Carry Over’ of past Military and Civilian administrations. Within a short period of assuming the leadership position of this country, President GOODLUCK Jonathan (GCFR) has demonstrated his passionate commitment to impacting positively on his people and his Country.
However, and like the saying that Rome was not built in a day, likewise the fact that President Jonathan cannot resolve these Socio-Economic and political gridlocks within a short period of time; hence the reality that he deserves to be given the opportunity to not only continue the Good Works but also CONSOLIDATE on them.

At this point, and while the countdown to the Democracy Day begins, it is instructive for Nigerians to imbibe certain principles especially our political ethics, philosophies, norms, values and what have you. As the largest party in Africa, the PDP should take advantage of these indices since we all know that politics is a game of numbers anchored on people’s membership, votes, mobilization and impact. We should therefore use this basic ‘All-Inclusive’ doctrine in the membership drive of the PDP, rather than godfatherism, this or that. I mean there must be total inclusivity of all party members in the membership, operational and administrative policies and implementation of the party. The Umbrella is big, wide and indeed accommodating enough for all that wish to come under it.

Being a political party founded on concrete principles and anchored on the name: The People’s Democratic Party, our green, white and red colour stripes coupled with the massive support and enormous goodwill of the Nigerian People enabled the party rode to power at the genesis of the present democratic era.
Unfortunately, and over the years, the PDP have squandered this goodwill, some of its members are even no longer proud to be identified as PDP members, while other Nigerians continue to point at PDP as the ‘problem’ of Nigeria.

With this reality in view, and in commemoration of the forth coming Democracy Day, this is the time and here is the place, under the good leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan to begin to restore the people's confidence. The much touted internal democracy needs to be brought back immediately into the mainstream operational and administrative system of the party to engender trust and confidence in members.
Furthermore, credibility in our electoral processes, an all-inclusive membership, entrenchment of democratic ideals in our party politics and above all, excellence should be our hallmark in fulfilling our covenant with our countrymen and women. Loyalty to the party and the ideals enunciated by our founding fathers should remain our beacon light.

It is this same patriotic spirit that inspired the founding fathers of PDP on August 19, 1998 that I invoke today. That in the irresistible tides of history, there comes a time when individuals must rise and dedicate themselves completely to larger causes, set aside the simplistic notions of Selfishness, greed and Sectionalism. Such time like this is what we have today not only in our politics but also in our country. We must call out to the humanitarian and compassion of men; a deep desire to associate together in the pursuit of nobility of purpose, devotion to duty, dignity in individual existence and love of one's country. As we celebrate our Democracy Day, I say let us rise to this commitment of excellence in our continuous service to our fatherland.

HAPPY DEMOCRACY DAY!!!

HISTORY IS BEING MADE EVERY DAY UNDER GOODLUCK JONATHAN _Apostle Zilly Aggrey Prophesied

HISTORY IS BEING MADE EVERY DAY UNDER GOODLUCK JONATHAN _Apostle Zilly Aggrey Prophesied

By Mary Oyibocha-Agbajoh

EVEN in the face of recent deadly attacks and fierce challenges facing The Man call JONATHAN It's time Nigerians not only pray to God but re-examine the signs of the incessant Attack on A Man whom Nigerians once embraced and overwhelming voted for like never in the history of our great Nation.

Despite the horrendous obstacles from opposition the MAN stand ‘gidigba’ making waves in his developmental strides.

THE TRANSPORT SECTOR under President Goodluck Jonathan had shown signs that the REFORMS initiated by the Federal Government over the years have started yielding fruits This follows marching orders by PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN for the completion of all ongoing projects as a matter of URGENT NATIONAL PRIORITY.

The projects include the dual-carriage Abuja-Abaji-Lokoja Road; construction of Oju-Loko-Oweto bridge linking Nassarawa and Benue states; dual-carriage Kano-Maiduguri road; construction of the 2nd Niger Bridge in Delta/Anambra states; rehabilitation of the Shagamu-Ore-Benin dual carriageway; and the rehabilitation of the Onitsha-Enugu-Port Harcourt dual carriageway.

Government has also unveiled plan to finance SIX CRITICAL ROAD PROJECTS in the six geo-political zones in addition to the introduction of a NEW MASS TRANSIT BUS SCHEME with the proceeds accruable from the partial deregulation of the oil sector through the SURE-P Programme.
Apart from MASSIVE REHABILITATION of ROADS and AIRPORTS across the Country, PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN Government has also initiated policies to make the transport sector a private sector-driven through a PUBLIC-PRIVATE-PARTNERSHIP (PPP) model. In what looks like a major milestone, the Federal Government on May 14 announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership deals with foreign and local investors to REHABILITATE and CONSTRUCT major Roads across the Country.

He never said he has all the answers to the numerous Nigeria Challenges neither did he boast to quench the Fire over night... President GOODLUCK Jonathan coming from the little village with out shoes shares in the common aspiration of every Nigeria hence he feels their pains

Since his ascension to office as president of the FRN DR. GOODLUCK EBELE Jonathan has not known Peace or Rest if it's not bombing by Boko Haram Sects, it's threat from MEND, Igoni or Bakassi seeking secession. All these events left no life unhindered
These are the Perilous times where Men dread the living day light...

That brings to mind the prophetic revelations of Apostle Zilly Aggrey (JP) from Port-Harcourt preaching and teaching with Fire in his bones
Apostle Aggrey who proudly acknowledged the effort of President Goodluck Jonathan in his Transformation Agenda to Nigeria stated that history is being made every day under the administration of President Jonathan but Nigerians refused to acknowledge it. Recalling the recent visit of President Jonathan to Israel as a phenomenon that has reaffirmed Gods Plans and changed everything after 40 years of Diplomatic Breach
Instead of continuing in the fracas, President Jonathan sued for Peace and went further to observe the Holy Pilgrimage with other Nigerians
Liking the tumultuous challenges facing our great Nation Nigeria, Apostle aggrey illustrated "Just like the last stage of a pregnant woman when the pains are almost unbearable that's when the child is about to be born. But surely the pains will disappear.

As he urged Nigerians to SUPPORT President Jonathan and enjoy the Blessing of God, as He promised, "I’ll Bless those who Bless ISREAL"
Even as We pray that God will bless and increase Nigeria as He has blessed and prospered Israel at all levels.

JONATHAN, UDUAGHAN Working Together Towards A Brighter & Greater Delta State.

In line with his vision to forestall and sustain the already existing Peace and camaraderie in the Niger Delta in particular and Nigeria in general, President GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN (GCFR) remains focused and undeterred with an high sense of responsibility for the laudable landmark of establishing THE NIGERIAN MARITIME UNIVERSITY in the heart of DELTA STATE Okerenkoko Gbaramatu.

There is no gainsaying the Governor of Delta State, Dr. EMMANUEL EWETAN UDUAGHAN is always at the centre stage of PEACE KEEPING in the Oil-Rich Niger Delta Region which has maintained an enviable place in his Three (3) Point Agenda in Transforming Delta State. His administration has fostered & sustained the prevailing peace in Delta state which had portrayed Him as a very close ally of Our DEAR PRESIDENT.

NO WONDER Mr President had shown so much CONFIDENCE in Uduaghan for his great ACHIEVEMENTS so far and especially in making Delta State a hub for INVESTORS and TOURISTS alike.

The PEACE created in Delta State by GOV. UDUAGHAN in conjunction with High Chief Government Ekpumopolo a. k.a TOMPOLO who had secured the Riverine areas from the activities of PIRATES, ILLEGAL BUNKERERS AND OTHER SECURITY VICES that may want to pose any threat to the existing tranquillity enjoyed in the Region, which no doubt encouraged MR PRESIDENT to site the SHIP YARD, DOCK YARD and NIGERIAN MARITIME UNIVERSITY in the Creeks of Niger Delta Region

This ground breaking achievements in Delta State were as a result of
the PEACE DRIVE engineered by GOV. UDUAGHAN and TOMPOLO.

Hence, President Goodluck Jonathan confidently STORMED Delta state
RECENTLY through the Osubi Airport, enroute Okerenkoko for the GROUND BREAKING/OPENING Ceremonies of the NIMASA, Ship and Dock yard. The President also Flagged off activities at the temporary site of the Nigerian Maritime University, in Kurutie both in Warri-South West Local Government Area of Delta State. The establishment

of a Ship/Dock Yard in the Region will no doubt boost Water-Way Transportation thereby opening doors for better economic activities for the Riverine dwellers. Same could be said for the establishment of a MARITIME UNIVERSITY which would harness and propagate the level of literacy, infrastructural and socio-economic
development in the Region.

DELTA ALWAYS ON THE MOVE.....

CHIBOK GIRLS; THE CRY OF A MOTHER!

CHIBOK GIRLS: Lets Join Hands with Jonathan

The abduction of Chibok Girls no doubt caught everyone unaware.
It is a sad incident indeed. But it is not a parameter for judging the Performance of President Goodluck Jonathan. So to speak however, it’s indeed a sad event that's even the more reason why we must WORK TOGETHER to Save these innocent Girls regardless of Party divide or interest just like in recent Malaysian missing plane where America and other countries gave their support.
We, Nigerians must put Our house in other before external forces can contribute their quarter towards A Greater Nigeria

Be-That-As-It-May, President GOODLUCK Jonathan alone cannot make the CHANGE We desire possible.

But with Our Support, JONATHAN can do the "MAGIC"

GOOD GOVERNANCE; is Everybody's Business

The First Lady is calling you... There is God Ooo Chai! Chai!! Chai!!!
