DELTA "RULES" NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL #EKO 2012 WARRI NO DEY CARRY LAST!

Back in the DAYS of Old BENDEL...

SPORTS has since been the most viable platform for Social Reorientation and Reformation of the minds of Our Youths taking advantage of their Natural Endowment No Wonder subsequent Governors way-back since the days of Dr Samuel Osiagbovwo Ogbemudia former Governor of Bendel State emphasized the need to invest & promote Sport in the State through Annual Spots Festivals, Camp Meetings, Inter- House Sports and Scholarships Programmes for Best Sport Students.

SPORTS was the most used medium to engage & Transformed the lives of the YOUTHS in the then Mid-West Region now South-South

Since then DELTA STATE has been in the lead of Sports in Nigerian Hence the slang "Warri No dey carry last"

Therefore, it didn't come as surprise to many when the Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan (CON) been a WARRI BOY who was once a beneficiary of this great sporting pedigree #GOVT COLLEGE WARRI left no stone unturned in preparing "TEAM DELTA" for the on-going 18TH NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL "EKO 2012" in Lagos to rekindle the FLAMES and ginger Team Delta you already know "WARRI NO DEY CARRY LAST"

Thus, the Presence of the Sport Loving Governor no doubt "Gingered" the Spirits of the Athletes as they won a Gold Medal even in his presence, he could be recalled that before his arrival the athletes were not doing too good in the Weight Lifting Final Match but his arrival brought the MIDAS TOUCH.

Over the Years Delta State has been earmarked as Brain behind Sporting Events in the Country as the States invest hugely on her Sport Annually, by sponsoring most of her Athletes for Professional Training abroad. while the State also spend a lot in Hosting National and Continental Competitions all for the development of her Sport.

Obviously Delta State is setting the pace for a Reformed Sporting Nation and we will definitely get there...

“Let me say this, to go forward in the national Festival which I have been advocating first it should be made open and I am happy that it has been made open by the Federal Government. Secondly, that it should be held at the National Stadium Abuja. The Federal Government should take responsibility for this National Sports Festival.”
